Contributions of photographs, videos and testimonies set to be part of new documentary for 3rd Isa Award ceremony

     Manama, Bahrain: 12 May 2016: The Isa Award’s Board of Trustees has announced that their campaign, Cherished Times with the Late Amir His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa has ended on a high note with significant contributions received from regional and international entities and individuals.

     With the conclusion of the campaign, the Board in due course will be making arrangements to produce a new documentary highlighting the humanitarian achievements of His Highness the late Amir of Bahrain. The documentary will be part of the agenda for the 3rd Isa Awards ceremony which is scheduled to take place in mid-2017, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in the presence of Arab and international representatives from around the world.

     Commenting on the announcement, Ali Abdullah Khalifa, the award's secretary general, said: “We have concluded this nostalgic campaign on a high note. As part of the campaign we approached government entities, photography clubs and associations, leading businesses and the general public to share from their personal collections images, videos or testimonies about the life and times with the late Amir and are pleased with such a remarkable response.  On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made their contributions to make this campaign a great success.” 

This exciting campaign kicked off on 2nd February 2016, at a media roundtable hosted by the Board of Trustees of the Isa Award for Services to Humanity. To generate awareness, the campaign, was actively promoted through traditional media and various social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The campaign concluded on 30th April 2016.

     The Isa Award for Services to Humanity is a world-wide initiative from Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which was established by Royal Decree in 2009.  The biennial award honours individuals and organisations around the globe that have provided outstanding services to humanity, regardless of their race, religion, culture, beliefs, or locations.

     The first edition of the Isa Award for Services to Humanity took place in 2013. The award includes 11 categories such as disaster prevention and relief, education, and human tolerance, with a jury representing high-profile individuals from around the world. The laureate of the biennial award receives a gold medal and a US$1 million cash award. The award is the first of its kind in the Middle East in the field of honouring service to humanity, and has successfully completed two cycles and established its own worldwide presence.
